(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Judy Kuhn will take over the role of Fantine in the Broadway revival of Les Misérables on Tuesday, October 23. Kuhn, who played Cosette in the show's original Broadway production, will replace Lea Salonga.
Kuhn will release her new CD, Serious Playground: The Songs of Laura Nyro, on October 2, and she will perform selections from the CD at Joe's Pub on October 1, 8, 15, and 22, and at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center on October 26.
Kuhn's many stage credits include She Loves Me, Chess, Two Shakespearean Actors, Les Miserables, Rags, The Highest Yellow, Passion, Dream True, and Eli's Comin', for which she won an Obie Award. She was featured as the singing voice of Disney's Pocahontas and co-stars in the upcoming film Day on Fire, for which she also performs on the soundtrack.
The show currently features Drew Sarich as Jean Valjean (to be succeeded by John Owen-Jones on October 23), Robert Hunt as Javert, Gary Beach as Thenardier, Ann Harada as Madame Thenardier, Megan McGinnis as Eponine, Adam Jacobs as Marius, Ali Ewoldt as Cosette, and Max von Essen as Enjolras.
