Baranski, Rylance, Whitford to Star in Boeing-Boeing on Broadway

Christine Baranski, Mark Rylance and Bradley Whitford will star in the Broadway production of Boeing-Boeing, Marc Camoletti's classic sixties comedy of errors, at Broadway's Longacre Theatre. Directed by Matthew Warchus, the play will begin previews April 19, with an opening set for May 4. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

In the play, an architect living in Paris (Whitford) has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancées with his housekeeper (Baranski) reluctantly playing romantic air-traffic controller as they fly in and out of his swank bachelor pad. But when an old school pal (Rylance) visits, things get rather turbulent. The London production received two 2008 Oliver Award nominations for Best Revival and Best Actor in a Play for Rylance.

The production will feature set and costume design by Rob Howell, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, original music by Claire Van Kampen, and sound by Simon Baker.

Baranski is a two-time Tony Award winner for The Real Thing and Rumors and an Emmy and SAG Award winner for her role of Maryann Thorpe on TV's Cybill. She will also star in the upcoming film adaptation of Mamma Mia! Rylance is currently starring in the Guthrie's production of Peer Gynt. He served as artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre for 10 years where he acted in numerous productions. He won an Olivier Award for Much Ado about Nothing, and a BAFTA Award for the TV production of The Government Inspector. Whitford previously appeared on Broadway in A Few Good Men, and won an Emmy Award and shared two SAG Awards for his work in The West Wing. He most recently starred in Aaron Sorkin's TV series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Camoletti is also the author of Don't Dress for Dinner. Warchus directed the current West End production of Speed-the-Plow at The Old Vic. He received Tony nominations for his direction of True West and Art, the latter of which also garnered him an Olivier Award.
