Kathleen Chalfant, Matthew Rauch, and Darcie Siciliano will star in Alexander Dinelaris' new play Red Dog Howls, to play the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, May 14-June 13. The production, which will officially open on May 19, will be directed by Michael Peretzian.

The play tells the story of Michael Kirakos, a young man who discovers a box of letters after his father's death, that reveals his grandmother is still alive. As they develop a relationship, Michael learns many more family secrets, including the truth about his heritage. Dinelaris' other work include Zanna, Dont! and The Chaos Theories.

The creative team includes Tom Buderwitz (sets), Bobby Pearce (costumes), Michael Gilliam (costumes), and Ara Dabandjian (original music). Peretzian's credits include Phil and Mac, and Talking With.

Disappointment
Posted on 06/06/2008 at 9:04AM by mac4u
The narrative exposition undermines the dramatic tension of the play; the dialogue between the husband and wife works to ruin any authenticity; and the ending is absolutely unwarranted and unearned ? assassinating the characters and the beating heart of the play. This was a huge disappointment considering the playwright?s desire to illuminate the atrocities perpetrated against the Armenians.
