Gavin Lee to Join Ashley Brown in National Tour of Mary Poppins

Broadway star Gavin Lee will play Bert opposite Ashley Brown in the national tour of the hit musical Mary Poppins, which will launch at Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre on March 25, 2009.

The show, based on stories by P.L. Travers and the Oscar-winning 1964 Walt Disney film of the same title, is directed by Richard Eyre, with co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and additional choreography by Stephen Mear.

Mary Poppins has a book by Julian Fellows, and uses the original film score by Robert and Richard Sherman, augmented by new songs written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

Brown and Lee originated the roles of Mary and Bert in the Broadway production of the show; Lee also originated the role of Bert in the show's London production.
