The winners of the 33rd Annual Samuel French Inc. Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival have been announced. A total of 40 short plays, chosen from over 450 submissions by playwriting workshops, university theater programs, and professional companies nationwide, were performed at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, July 15-20.

The six winning scripts were Ayravana Flies or A Pretty Dish by Sheila Callaghan; F**king Art by Bekah Brunstetter; Juniper; Jubilee by Janine Nabers; The Dying Breed by Thomas Higgins; The Grave by Gabe McKinley; and The Thread Men by Thomas Dunn. They will be published as a collection, which will be available in late 2008 or early 2009.

The festival's judges included playwrights Thomas Bradshaw, Kathleen Clark, Israel Horovitz, Shirley Lauro, Eduardo Machado, Jane Milmore, and a variety of theatrical agents and members of the Samuel French editorial staff.
