Directed by Blanka Zizka, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train is a searing drama which introduces audiences to Angel Cruz, a young man who makes one foolish and arrogant mistake that lands him in the most desolate wing of Rikers Island prison. With the necessity of a Greek tragedy and the rhythms of street poetry, the play tracks Angel's struggles to comprehend his actions. He is forced into a battle of morality with a born-again inmate, a didactic prison guard, and an idealistic public defender who all attempt to guide him on a wayward path to righteousness. Angel makes a fatal choice that teaches him redemption can come in many forms.
