Synopsis

Cafe Carlyle presents the return engagement of three-time Olivier Award-winner Maria Friedman, whom Stephen Holden in The New York Times describes as being both "demure and zany" and "having the polish of Julie Andrews and the antic playfulness of Gertrude Lawrence."

Her new one-woman show Maria Friedman: By Special Arrangement includes such musical-theatre fare as "Somewhere" from West Side Story, "One Life to Live" from Lady in the Dark, "Finishing the Hat" from Sunday in the Park with George, as well as a medley from Sondheim's Passion. Maria will also preview a song or two from the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical The Woman in White, in which she will star opposite Michael Crawford in London this coming September. She will once again be accompanied on two pianos played by her Musical Director Michael Haslam and Chris Walker.
