Synopsis

Based on a French film by Jean Poiret by the same name, as well as the inspiration for the 1996 hit film The Birdcage, La Cage aux Folles is a boisterous and uplifting celebration of family values. The musical tells the story of Albin and Georges, two middle-aged partners who run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez. Their outrageously resplendent peace turns to mayhem when their son announces that he is getting married -- to the daughter of a local morals crusader! The original Broadway production received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The new Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles is produced by Nederlander Presentations, Inc. and Clear Channel Entertainment.

Winner of 2005 Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical and Best Choreography, as well as the 2005 Drama Desk Award and the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.
