Synopsis

An Evening of Original One Act Plays about People Trying to Fill in the Blank.

Home Is Where the _______ Is presents new work created especially for the actors in the Theater Program Production Workshop. At the beginning of the workshop, award-winning playwrights from LAByrinth Theater and Henry Street Settlement met with the actors and observed them as an ensemble under the direction of David Anzuelo. Each playwright was given two weeks to write a one-act play for at least two of the actors dealing with one aspect of the many physical and emotional meanings that home has. In one play a woman urges her childhood lawyer friend to fight for the safety of their old neighborhood as well as stand up for himself. Another play features two women who bond in the hospital waiting room that has become a second home to them. In another, "home is where the vote is" as a couple debates their relationship on Election Day.

The playwrights are Megan Mostyn-Brown, Michael R. Jackson, Nilaja Sun, David Tianga and new playwright Joshua Torres. The cast features Jessie Banks, Amy Blitz, Shirley Chan, Joshua Torres, Victoria West and Jeff Zappala. David Anzuelo directs the one acts.

Appropriate for teens and up.
