Synopsis

This performance is a culmination of Spanish As A Living Language, a BAX Arts in Education program at the Brooklyn School of Collaborative Studies (BCS) directed by theater teacher Albert Elias. The performance was created in the classroom by junior high students ages 10-13. It will include original scene work, poetry and theater games created by the students performed in Spanish and English. The program receives generous funding by the Partnership of Arts Education - School Arts Partnerships and Project ARTS.

The Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies will display new art work by students in 6th through 8th grade during the month of February. There will be an opening reception after the performance featuring art work by the students. Work will include masks that were individually molded to each student's face and collages that deal with the theme of identity. Teacher Christina Carlson asked students to make individual collages that demonstrate how their environment plays a role in who they are. Students also made group collages about their identity as Brooklynites.
