Synopsis

Rising Stars 2005, entitled "All the World's a Stage", marks the Parents Association's 20th year presenting the showcase, and coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Lincoln Center building, which brought together the city's two revered arts-focused high schools in 1984 as Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

The show will feature 150 students representing 31 acts, all designed to celebrate the school's diverse student body and the 20-year milestone of graduating some of the biggest talent in the worlds of art, music, dance and drama. Performances will range from an original Korean fan dance and hip hop routine, to a classical piano duet and a cappella tap, with vocals, rock bands and other dance forms in the line-up.

More than 350 students representing 140 acts auditioned before a panel of theater industry judges to win the coveted spots in Rising Stars 2005, according to Diane Nicole, co-president of the Parents Association. "Rising Stars is a unique opportunity for students to showcase their individual personalities and talents in their own selections," she said. "Our kids represent the very best of New York City's up-and-coming talent."
