Synopsis

A Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist pursues evidence of God through physics. As she single-mindedly pursues her goal, she upsets the balance of her relationships with her oldest and closest friend, a rabbi, and her star post-doctoral student, the son of a Christian Scientist.

Set between the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (known as the Ten Days of Awe), and reaching back into the past, Splitting Infinity examines the universal struggle to connect - to each other and to the world around us. Each character seeks answers to questions of faith and science, love and work, and life and death. The play details the ache inside each of us to know, to dream large, to demand more, and the cost of such ambitions.

Television, stage and film actors Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives) and Saul Rubinek (And the Band Played On, Unforgiven, Frasier) headline the cast of professional actors. Michael Cassidy (The O.C., Hidden Palms) co-stars.

A brief award ceremony with Nobel Laureate David Gross (2004, Physics) precedes the reading. An open reception with the cast, STAGE playwrights, judges and audience follows the reading, with many distinguished professionals from the arts and science worlds in attendance.
