Baraka de Soleil and his company, D Underbelly, premiere Koool-Aid Luv Odyssey, a multimedia performance collage that comes across as a rock spectacle reflecting the likes of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and Rick James.
RedRed and his Too-Red-Crew go on a psychedelic odyssey through the mystical legacies of the syrupy sweet, fixating world of La Koool-aid. Witness Cherry and Rouge strut their stuff to DJ-Red-d's live mix of hip electronic, reggae and ambient soundscapes, while Video Guru Red-rum, ritualist Red-emption and Motha Supremes Reddya float in and out of a vibrant collage of afros, saturated colors and raucous testifying. Along the way, the passionate impresario RedRed bemoans a poetic riff on the woes, throes, highs and lows of this liquidy substance that comes in only one real flavor: RED.
"It's about 'drinking the Kool-Aid' - falling for anything. It's about riding inside of a fixation - jonesing for it, being satiated by it, and then being overwhelmed by it until it dries you up. We search for comfort in places that sometimes destroy us, or make us addicted or comatose."
