A Benefit for the Fresh Fruit Festival and the Jazz Foundation of Americas "Fund for New Orleans' Musicians"

Can't Prove It On Me: Celebrating the Works of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Jazz Greats is produced and hosted by Rome Neal.

Billy Strayhorn, Bessie Smith, "Ma" Rainey, Billy Tipton and Sun Ra are just a few of the LGBT community's Jazz greats. Rome Neal, multi-talented Artistic Director of the Nuyorican Café's theater program and profound jazzman highlights a full throttle tribute to LGBT Greats of Jazz, exploring their life and work through music, spoken word, video and dance.

Host and vocalist, Rome will be joined by singers ButtaFlySoul, Tulivu Donna-Cumberbach, Carol Randazzo pianist Courtney Bryan, tap dancer Laraine Goodman and the All Ladies' Band [Linda Oh (bass), Bernice Brooks (drums), Debra Kreisberg (saxophone, clarinet)].

Scheduled to appear are special guests Lea DeLaria, Jazz Musician, Broadway Star and Stand-Up Comic as well as Fred Hersch, pianist/composer and two times Grammy Award Winner. Celebrate LGBT Jazz Greats while supporting Fresh Fruit and the New Orleans Musician's Fund of the Jazz Foundation of America.
