Synopsis

In Aixa Kndrick's "Black Circus", spectators are plunged into a world of absurdity, surrealism and dreams. Using elements of pop culture, mass media and archetypal symbolism interwoven with epic theater, African ritual, Butoh, Commedia Del Arte and hip hop, Black Circus engages the spectator in a stream-of-consciousness discourse and social commentary on identity and collective perception. Cowritten with Leonardo Bezant.

Christa bell's "Coochie Magik" is a ritual solo performance, fusing stand-up comedy and poetic text with elements of hip hop theatre. "Coochie Magik" is an act of resistance towards the corporately sanctioned attack on women in mainstream hiphop and mass media. It's a transformative revival celebrating the gospel according to woman.

Actor, mover, theater artist and teacher Aole T. Miller has been dubbed the "first African-American Ceremonial Mask Dancer of Bali." Drawing upon his extensive background in movement, theatre and mask work, Miller premieres "Untitled", a solo dance work based on Balinese and African traditions.
