Synopsis:
The Eisenhower Theater reopens its doors after a 17-month renovation with a production celebrating three generations of Broadway composers. Directed by Eric Schaeffer with choreography by Warren Carlyle, the celebration features abridged versions of Girl Crazy, Fiddler on the Roof, and Side Show, each representing one of the three generations of Broadway composers.

Opening on Broadway October 14, 1930, Girl Crazy features music by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin and book by Guy Bolton & Jack McGowan. The musical showcases such popular songs such as "Embraceable You" and "I Got Rhythm." Max von Essen will play the role of Danny Churchill and Tony Award® winner Randy Graff will play Kate Fothergill, the role that launched Ethel Merman's career.

Representing Broadway's second generation is Fiddler on the Roof. With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, the musical opened on Broadway September 17, 1964 and won nine Tony Awards®, with a special tenth award coming in 1972 for becoming the longest running musical of its time. For the Kennedy Center performances, the role of Tevye will be played by Mark Jacoby and Tony Award® winner Randy Graff will play Tevya's wife, Golde.

Broadway's third generation will be represented by Henry Krieger (music) and Bill Russell's (book & lyrics) Side Show. Telling the story of conjoined twins Violet and Daisy Hilton, the musical earned five Tony Award® nominations after its opening on October 16, 1997.
